Cooling Tower Risk Management
Plan Audits
Because they are a known source of bacteria such as Legionella, cooling towers need to be properly maintained, inspected and tested regularly.
In Victoria, cooling towers must be registered with the Department of Health.
As part of the registration process you are required to have a Risk Management Plan in place that covers, amongst other things:
- stagnant water
- nutrient growth
- poor water quality
- deficiencies in the system
- location
- access.
Addressing these risks is seen as a major step towards minimising the risk of your system causing an outbreak of Legionnaires’ Disease.
Mairin can provide assistance in developing a risk management plan for your cooling towers and ensuring that you comply with legislated requirements.
It is compulsory for you to have your Risk Management Plan audited on a regular basis by an Approved Auditor. This is a desktop audit looking at the paperwork and records associated with your system. Mairin can undertake an audit on site, or you can forward all relevant records to us and the audit can be done off-site if preferred.
