Mairin is on the lookout for experienced new employees
.
Working at Mairin means you have to be prepared for a range of activities as well as a variety of locations. It’s not your normal 9 to 5 job. It’s not your normal office job. You need to have, or be willing to develop, a fairly broad skill set. You must be flexible and willing to do any job that happens to arise – sometimes at short notice and away from the office.
One week you may be working night shift doing air monitoring, the next you may be travelling from place to place doing asbestos audits.
Professionalism. Mairin has a code of ethics to which we operate. This code was implemented to show the level of professional conduct required of our staff. We will only provide advice and assistance where we are competent to do so.
Reliability. This is all about doing what we say we will do. If we say we will be there at 9am then we will do everything in our power to be there at 9am. If a client asks for our advice, we will take the time to ensure we understand their issue. We will make sure that the advice we give is correct and suitable for their workplace. We will continually build on the trust we have developed.
Integrity. One of the most important characteristics you need as a Consultant with Mairin. When you are on the job, your focus must be on what is best for the client and the safety of their staff. We don’t garner commissions from suppliers for selling product. We don’t curry favours from third parties for recommending their services to our clients. We look at what the client truly needs and come up with a range of solutions to suit their needs.
Dedication. We will spend the time to get the job done. We will be there for our clients and do everything we can to help them when they need it most. If we look after them properly they will continue to use us, after all, our success is dependent on their success.
Experience. There are two sides to this. Our clients know that we have the experience to provide the advice and assistance they need. But they also want a good experience when they use our services. They need to feel they are getting the attention they deserve and also value for money.
Asbestos
This is the biggest part of our business. It is what we specialise in. We do asbestos audits, clearance inspections, exposure and control air monitoring, sample identification and we also provide training. If you are interested and have experience in this area, especially if you are a NATA signatory, we would love to talk to you.
Once you are trained in our asbestos activities you could end up anywhere in Australia. You can be working in all types of workplaces. Public housing, private houses, sports grounds, caravan parks, shops, offices, power stations, refineries, smelters, construction sites, demolition sites, paper mills, steel mills and railways infrastructure – we have worked there. Ever flown in a helicopter? Suitable personnel may be required to fly offshore to the oil rigs in Bass Strait.
So from our office in Moe we certainly do get around.
You need to be able think clearly and work your way through problems. If ‘Plan A’ is not going to work, you need to be able to quickly come up with a suitable ‘Plan B’. Problem solving skills are a big asset.
You need to be able to work under pressure and still manage tight timeframes. You will often need to juggle a number of projects at once.
And of course there is always the paperwork. You need to be able to write intelligent reports that are easily understood. When you write the report on what you have seen and done, it needs to be written in a language and style that the client understands. They need to know what you are saying so that they can make the right decision on what to do.
Does this sound like something that would interest you and you are qualified to do?
Well then, if you’re looking for a challenge, are an enthusiastic self starter (whatever that means) and can turn up on time, then you may be suitable. Send us a resume or call in and talk to us. We are always willing to talk to people looking to work in the Occupational Health & Safety field.
