Noise Exposure and Hearing Loss Prevention in the Workplace
Excessive noise is a common problem in many industries. Because of the way noise exposure symptoms increase gradually over a period of time they are often not noticed until it is too late. Most employees don’t understand the significant effects this long-term exposure can have. For this reason hearing loss is often overlooked as an issue in the workplace.
Noise monitoring
If your workplace is noisy you may also need to undertake environmental noise monitoring to determine compliance with EPA requirements.
This may mean undertaking monitoring both on your site and at locations away from your site. It will also mean taking noise measurements at various times of the day and night.
If you suspect you have noise issues at your workplace, Mairin can provide an assessment of the general noise levels and the employee noise exposure levels, as well as undertaking environmental noise monitoring if required. We can provide advice on what actions need to be taken to reduce the risk to your workers.
Hearing protection
Where employees are required to wear hearing protection, we can provide training in the selection, correct use and care of the different types of hearing protection available.
